ACL Rehab Journey

This page follows the real-life journeys of patients working with DJB Physiotherapy. We guide you from injury or surgery back to full function through evidence-based, exercise-led rehabilitation tailored specifically to your goals. The ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) is one of the main stabilising ligaments in your knee. It helps control twisting, cutting and change-of-direction movements. When it’s injured or reconstructed, you need a structured rehab plan to restore strength, control and confidence so you can return safely to the things you love.

Patient Stories

Mary

Post-Op ACL & Meniscus Journey
IMG_1204.jpeg

Mary a 30 year old netball player from Hereford who was a regular gym goer before tearing her ACL during a league Netball match. She faces a challenging road following a complex ACL and meniscal surgery, dealing with significant persistent knee pain. By utilizing objective movement analysis, we identified the underlying mechanical issues and are now guiding her through a targeted pre-habilitation phase. Our current focus is optimizing her strength and mobility for a follow-up procedure, with the ultimate goal of seeing her back on the netball court for the upcoming season.

Tom

Return to Stage

Tom a 35 year old Guitar player from the Forest of Dean who tore his ACL after a fall. A guitar teacher at Tom Ennis Guitar who was not a regular gym goer before his operation needed a lot of encouragement to get into his training as he navigated new environments and a recovering knee . However by the end of the rehab he was more than comfortable in this environment.

Before his ACL reconstruction surgery, Tom frequently experienced his knee giving way without warning, causing falls and a complete loss of confidence in its stability. As a talented guitarist with a powerful stage prescence, this had a major impact on both daily life and his ability to perform. Working with DJB Physio helped rebuild strength, stability, and confidence, allowing him to return to doing what he loves doing and can be seen live on stage at festivals this summer.
